Chelsea Matiash is The Intercept's Senior Photo Editor. She also serves as an Executive Board member of the National Press Photographers Association and on the faculty of the Eddie Adams Workshop XXIX.
Before joining The Intercept, Chelsea was the Deputy Multimedia Editor at TIME Magazine. Prior to that, she was a Photo Editor at The Wall Street Journal where she was also editor of Photo Journal, WSJ's official photography blog. She co-curated social media feeds for @TIME and @WSJPhotos.
Previously, she was a Photo Editor on The Associated Press national headquarters photo desk and worked as a photographer, videographer and editor at The South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Chelsea graduated Magna Cum Laude and with University Honors from the University of Miami, where she also completed graduate coursework in Multimedia Journalism. She was editor in chief of her college newspaper, The Miami Hurricane, and interned as a photographer with The Miami Heat, Gables Home Page, Grand Ave News and Straus Newspapers.
She is based in Brooklyn.
